The word "KriSHE" has roots in the Hindi word "Kri," meaning "to do" or "create," and "SHE" signifies the feminine energy of nature and the earth—our nurturer, provider, and protector. Together, "KriSHE" symbolizes action and creation, driven by the nurturing force of the earth herself.

But our name has another layer of meaning too. In many rural communities, agriculture is often seen as the domain of men. However, the reality is different. As men migrate to cities in search of work, it is the women who are left behind to manage farms, care for the land, and ensure that families are fed. Women become the unsung heroes of agriculture, shouldering the responsibility of the fields and the future of food production.
